Sing With Us! NEW Pop Rock Choir Workshops in Mortain & Gorron
Curious about meditation but don't know where to start?
Maybe you've tried it before and found your mind wandering constantly.
Or perhaps you've thought:
“I'm no good at meditation.”
“How am I supposed to stop thinking?”
“My mind is just too busy.”
If that sounds familiar, you're very welcome here.
“Meditation practice isn't about trying to throw ourselves away and become something better. It's about befriending who we are already.”
- Pema ChödrönI'm putting together a small, friendly and supportive 6-week meditation course at HeartSong, especially for beginners.
Just 4 people, meeting each week to learn, practise and explore meditation together.
There’s no need to be experienced, spiritual, calm or even particularly good at sitting still!
We'll learn a range of simple practices together:
Mindfulness of breathing
Guided body scan and relaxation
Loving-kindness and self-compassion
Grounding practices
Working with a busy or wandering mind
Short practices you can use during the day
Bringing mindfulness into everyday life
Everything is guided, and there will be plenty of time to ask questions, share your experience and find what works for you.
A wandering mind isn't a sign that you're doing it badly. Noticing that you've wandered and gently coming back is part of the practice.
This isn't about trying to empty your mind or sitting cross-legged for hours.
We'll explore simple practices that you can actually use in everyday life - when you're busy, distracted, stressed, overwhelmed, tired, or simply need a few moments to yourself.
With regular practice, you may begin to notice little changes - perhaps more moments of calm, greater awareness, a little more space around your thoughts and feelings, or simply having something you can return to when you need to pause.
There's nothing to achieve and no particular outcome you have to reach. We'll learn, practise and explore together.
No previous experience needed.
No pressure.
No complicated techniques.
Just a little time each week to pause, practise, learn something useful - and share the experience with others.
With only 4 people, the group will be small enough to be and feel personal and relaxed.
We'll have time to learn together, practise together, ask questions and share some of the experiences that naturally come with beginning a meditation practice.
And afterwards...
You're very welcome to stay for a cuppa, something sweet and a chance to get to know the others in the group.
Because learning to meditate doesn't have to be serious or complicated!
I'd love this to be a warm, welcoming space where you can learn something practical, meet a few lovely people and give yourself a little time each week to pause.
I've spent over 20 years working with people in therapeutic, retreat and community settings, and my approach is rooted in mindfulness and compassion.
I hold an MA in Group and Intercultural Psychotherapy and have trained in meditation teaching, Yoga Nidra, qigong, Yin Yoga, sound therapy and am a Usui Reiki Master-Teacher.
My aim is simple - to make meditation accessible and useful in everyday life, and to help you find a way of practising that feels natural and sustainable for you.

The course is booked as a six-week commitment, so that we can build a consistent group and share the journey together.
I'm gathering interest first. Once I have a small group interested, we'll find dates and times that work for everyone.
If you've been curious about meditation but never quite known where to begin, I'd love to hear from you.
There's no commitment at this stage.
Just email helloheartsong@gmail.com and I'll add you to the list and be in touch to chat further about days/times.
