New Mortain and Gorron Pop Rock Choir Workshops Starting Soon...
"The experience grounded me, lifted my heart, and settled my nervous system into a calm I could feel throughout my body. I walked around with a huge grin on my face straight after."
"This is a lovely, calming, uplifting and supportive thing to do."
Think you can’t meditate?
Too many thoughts? Too distracted? Can’t sit still?
You’re not alone. This busy “monkey mind” is something we all experience. And here’s the good news: you don’t need a silent mind to begin.
Mantra meditation offers a simple, grounding way to come home to yourself. Through the gentle repetition of sound, we allow the mind to settle, the body to soften, and the heart to open.
There’s nothing to get right.
No special voice required.
No experience needed.
Just come as you are.
At HeartSong, our mantra and meditation circles offer a warm, friendly, and supportive space to explore this beautiful practice together.
“Although Western science is only just beginning to explore the healing power of sound, our instinctive natures have known that singing and uttering ancient lyrics stir something within the soul when words themselves are not enough.”
— Miranda Macpherson
If you’ve never meditated before, you are especially welcome.
You don’t need to know how to sit in silence. You don’t need to clear your mind. You don’t need any experience with chanting or spiritual practice.
Mantra meditation is often more accessible than silent meditation because the sound gives your mind something gentle to rest on. If your thoughts wander (and they will — that’s completely normal), you simply come back to the sound. Over and over. Kindly.
Many people who once felt they “weren’t good at meditation” are surprised by how natural and supportive this practice feels. The sound carries you. The group carries you. You don’t have to do it alone.
The word mantra comes from Sanskrit and means “a tool for the mind.” Traditionally, it refers to words or sounds that are repeated to support focus, awareness, and presence.
In our mantra and meditation circle we work with traditional chants, meaningful words, simple songs, and sound practices inspired by different lineages as well as contemporary compositions.
A mantra can be a sacred sound, a traditional chant, or a simple word repeated to steady the body and quiet mental noise. When we sing and repeat these sounds together, it becomes both a personal and shared experience.
It can help to:
• Calm busy thoughts
• Relax the body
• Create presence
• Support emotional balance
You can listen at first, hum softly, or join in singing when you feel ready. There is no pressure to perform — only an invitation to participate in whatever feels comfortable for you.
We sing, chant, and meditate together through simple songs and mantras from around the world in a warm and welcoming space.
It’s not about doing it perfectly — it’s about experiencing it together.
When we sing and chant together, something quietly beautiful happens. No one voice carries the song — we all do. There’s no pressure to perform, no spotlight, no expectation — just simple sounds, repeated gently.
And yet, as our voices blend, harmonies begin to emerge naturally. Unforced and organic, they weave us into something larger than ourselves. The music becomes far greater than any one voice — something shared, authentic and alive.
It isn’t about singing perfectly. It’s about belonging. About being part of something that holds you as much as you hold it.
Again and again, people tell us it feels like coming home — or finding their people. Together, we create a space that feels safe, open, and deeply nourishing.
Every mantra and meditation session is designed to create a space where people can arrive, settle, and find calm together. When we’re intentional about where we place our attention, something more meaningful can unfold. We are all co-creators of these circles, and everyone’s voice and presence matter.
Every breath and every voice contributes to the experience and connection that lifts everyone. It’s not about doing it perfectly - it’s about showing up and joining together with curiosity and an open heart…
Each session includes:
• A gentle guided meditation to help you arrive and feel grounded
• Peaceful, heart-opening mantras and chants from around the world
• Simple breath and sound practices to support wellbeing
• A relaxed, inclusive atmosphere where everyone is welcome
Led by Ema and Peter, who sing and play harmonium and guitar, their music creates a grounding, supportive foundation for the whole group. The live accompaniment gently holds the space, helping voices blend, guiding the rhythm of the chants, and allowing you to settle more deeply into the experience.
